AirlinesLawton is served by American Airlines by flying through Dallas, and Delta Airlines flying direct from Atlanta to Lawton. Transportation to and from the Lawton airport will be provided. Detailed flight information must be submitted by phone, mail or fax. If you call in, we suggest that you follow-up by mail or fax. Some students have been able to save money by flying into Oklahoma City and paying Airport Express to drive the students to lawton to the Cameron Dorm. Airport Express will return to lawton at the end of camp and take students back to the airport. The distance from Oklahoma City to Lawton is about 75 miles. Awards to Win
Camp Entertainment
Camp T-shirtYou will be receiving T-shirts at registration. We can only give the size that you requested on the camp registration form. Keep in mind that some shrinkage may occur. College CreditUndergraduate CreditCollege credit is optional. Only teachers, college students, and any high school student who will have completed at least his/her sophomore year may receive two hours of undergraduate credit. (COMM 3992) Students must have an ACT score of 23 or higher. Official transcripts and ACT or SAT scores must be submitted during college registration on Monday of camp. Registration and payment for college credit will take place Monday any time between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. on the 2nd floor of North Shepler in the Admissions Office. Those who register for college credit will be expected to participate in every session of the workshop. Graduate CreditThose students who register for graduate college credit will be expected to participate in every session of the workshop as well as complete the assigned work which is outlined in the workshop syllabus. Registration for graduate credit can be handled through the mail with the Graduate School's office or graduate registration can take place on Monday any time between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. on the 4th floor of North Shepler in the Graduate Office. Information for Teachers There are scheduled sessions for teachers in the Centennial Dining Room. Teachers should enroll in one division of the camp to receive all the handouts and materials for that division. We will have the Fine Arts Computer Lab and the Burch Hall Computer Lab for camp use. The lab holds computers with internet access and word processing. Some teachers have signed up for a free room by agreeing to help coach students in the breakout sessions in one-on-one coaching or judging practice debate rounds and helping us supervise the evening activities and checking on dorm rooms. Niki Alderson coordinates the activities for the teacher sessions, please feel free to contact her further details or special needs. Student Supervision and SecurityAll activities are closely supervised. Female campers are housed in the north tower of Shepler Center, and male campers are housed in the south tower with camp staff assigned to rooms on the same floor. Room checks by camp staff members take place at 11:00 p.m. each night. Special camp security personnel are on duty at all times. See the camp rules page for further information.
